Sam Lloyd:

Sam Lloyd is a devoted man of God who has faithfully served both the Lord and his community. With a 39-year career as an electrical engineer and program manager in the defense industry, he has balanced his professional life with his calling to teach. Sam has been an active teacher in children’s ministry and adult Bible classes and has also served as an elder at his church. He cherishes God’s diversity and enjoys interacting and forming friendships with people from various cultures and backgrounds, sharing the love of Christ with all he meets. Since retiring, Sam has dedicated his time to assisting refugees by teaching English and Citizenship classes. As a supporter and founding board member of ANEHOPE, Sam is committed to enabling children in Kenya and East Africa to realize the hope that comes from access to quality education, and more importantly, the hope found in the Gospel of Christ.

JoEllyn Short (Interim Secretary),

JoEllyn is a devoted wife, mother of two, and grandmother of two. With a background in teaching, she now specializes in tutoring students with dyslexia. Her many years in education have been dedicated to supporting those with special needs. JoEllyn has leveraged her training and experience to make a global impact, particularly in East Africa, where she has played a significant role in educating numerous children. She embraces God’s calling to demonstrate His love through education, providing children with the opportunity for a second chance at success. Family and education are of utmost importance to JoEllyn. She has been an active member of her church for over 35 years, serving in various capacities. A talented music teacher, she enjoys playing hymnal songs on her piano. JoEllyn’s connection to ANEHOPE began through her experience supporting a student in Uganda via Compassion and visiting Kenya and Uganda with a friend. Her involvement has since expanded to include support for education and healthcare for entire families of siblings. JoEllyn is a kindhearted educator who is passionate about helping others succeed. She has been a dedicated board member of ANEHOPE since its establishment in the USA, continually contributing to the organization’s mission and vision.

Melissa Reley

Melissa Riley is an advocate for Christian service and faith-based initiatives. She currently serves as the Director of Philanthropy at Point Loma Nazarene University. Rooted in a strong personal faith, Melissa prioritizes her family as her primary ministry while also nurturing a deep commitment to helping others live out their faith through service. With a Master of Arts in Theological Studies, she shares her knowledge and insights by teaching at her church and actively participating in the leadership of a local Christian organization. Melissa has been a steadfast supporter and a founding board member of ANEHOPE Ministry in the USA, contributing significantly to its growth and impacting the lives of bright but less privileged kids from disadvantaged communities. Through her efforts, these children have gained access to quality education and experienced the love of Christ, advancing ANEHOPE Ministry’s mission of “Educating the Future for Christ.” Melissa not only shares her expertise in philanthropy, which she has gained over the years, but also prays for ANEHOPE Ministry and the children we support, that they may grow in their knowledge of Christ and succeed in life, becoming good stewards for Christ among their peers.

Dr. Chukuka Samuel Enwemeka:

Dr. Chukuka Samuel Enwemeka is a distinguished academic known for his pioneering work in physical therapy and photomedicine. He received his BS and MS in Physical Therapy from the University of Ibadan and the University of Southern California, respectively. He then earned his Ph.D. in Pathokinesiology from New York University (NYU), where he also completed his post-doctoral research at the Rusk Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine. Professor Enwemeka has held several prestigious academic positions. He served as Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at San Diego State University (SDSU), Professor and Dean at both the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) and the New York Institute of Technology, and as Professor and Chairman at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Currently, he is UWM Emeritus Distinguished Professor and SDSU Emeritus Professor. Dr. Enwemeka’s research has significantly advanced the field of photomedicine, particularly in the therapeutic and antimicrobial use of lasers and monochromatic light. He was the first to demonstrate that red and near-infrared light can promote tissue repair and that blue light can effectively combat coronaviruses and antibiotic-resistant bacteria. He has authored over 120 research papers, monographs, and book chapters, and has secured millions of dollars in research funding. Beyond his academic and research achievements, Professor Enwemeka is deeply committed to his Christian faith. He joins the ANEHOPE Ministry board with a wealth of expertise and a heart for service. He has consistently supported education for bright but needy children, offering them a second chance in life while demonstrating the love of God. His dedication to both education and spiritual growth reflects his lifelong commitment to making a positive impact on future generations.

David  Burdette

David Burdette became a believer during the Jesus movement through beach evangelism in his youth. His youth pastor’s influence led him to make an immediate commitment to missions. After completing his education at Vancouver Bible College and Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary, David, his wife, and their two children moved to Mexico with the Baptist General Conference (now Converge Worldwide) to engage in church planting and sharing the Gospel. Throughout his 35 years in Mexico, David not only focused on planting churches but also helping people meet both their physical and spiritual needs. David started the Mexico Caravan Ministries, a mobilization ministry, and later played a key role in founding Radius International, a missions training center. Even after leaving Mexico, David remains actively involved in ministries across the border and serves as the chairperson of global missions at his home church. In the past 10 years, he also began a second career as a tax preparer, helping cross-cultural workers and non-profit organizations with tax advice while continuing to share the Good News of Christ. David has been a strong supporter of ANEHOPE Ministry, drawn to its mission to “Educate the Future for Christ” by providing Christ-centered education to develop compassionate servant leaders in needy communities in East Africa. He deeply values education as a powerful tool for advancing the Kingdom of God and is committed to supporting ANEHOPE Ministry’s mission and vision.

Steve Suhrheinrich 

Steve Suhrheinrich is a dedicated professional with a deep commitment to his faith, family, and service to others. His life is guided by his relationship with Christ, a passion that influences his dedication to both his family and community. Married to Jessica for over two decades, they are both blessed with two teenage daughters. Steve finds balance in life through his devotion to faith, family, fitness, reading, and cultivating friendships. Steve holds a BS from Vanderbilt University and an MBA from San Diego State University. In 2012, he co-founded Curvo, a B2B software company that helps hospitals manage medical device costs. As Co-Founder & Chief Customer Officer, Steve secured early-stage funding and developed strategic partnerships, oversaw client relations and initiatives that helped establish Curvo’s strong presence in the market. Before embarking on his entrepreneurial journey, Steve served as a U.S. Navy Officer, where he successfully led teams during both peacetime and wartime. His military leadership provided him with a strong foundation in decision-making, teamwork, and service—qualities that have shaped his approach to business and life. Steve is actively involved in his church community and, he frequently participates in mission trips to Mexico, sharing the Word of God and providing support to those in need. He is involved with ANEHOPE Ministry as a board member to support its vision and mission of “Educating the Future Compassionate Servant Leadership for Christ” through the access of secondary education to bright but underprivileged children in East Africa. Currently, Steve serves as an Associate Professor of Management at Point Loma Nazarene University, where he shares his knowledge and experience with the next generation in a Christ-centered environment.

Dr. William A. Twayigize (Founder, CEO)

Dr. William A. Twayigize’s life journey has been shaped by resilience and faith. Growing up in refugee camps in DR Congo and Kenya, he witnessed the loss of many loved ones but emerged determined to make a difference. Dr. Twayigize earned his Bachelor’s degree from Daystar University in Kenya, a Postgraduate Diploma from Southern NH University in the USA, a Master’s degree from Brandeis University, and a Ph.D. from the University of New England in Australia.  He has held prominent positions at the Office of the President of Kenya, the Harvard School of Public Health, the African Presidential Research Center at Boston University, and the International Affairs program at San Diego State University, influencing policy and contributing to public health strategies. Motivated by his journey, Dr. Twayigize founded ANEHOPE Ministry, dedicated to the principles of Ubuntu and Matthew 22:37, 39. ANEHOPE provides scholarships to underprivileged youth in East Africa and engages in sustainability projects like promoting renewable energy and economic stoves. The organization also ensures girls have access to sanitary pads to support their education. Dr. Twayigize’s vision for ANEHOPE includes establishing the Mara International Christian School, integrating science education with Christian values to nurture compassionate servant leaders. His life, reflected in Psalm 91, stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to overcome adversity and make a lasting difference in the world.
