Mara Junior High

A Place to Grow

Mara Junior High is a proposed Christian middle school located in the vibrant town of Nanyuki, Kenya. It is designed to provide a nurturing and structured community where students can thrive beyond their elementary years and prepare for high school. Our mission is to offer world-class Christian education to parents from East Africa, ensuring that their children receive an excellent academic foundation while growing in their faith.

Academic Excellence:

At Mara Junior High, we prioritize rigorous academics, leadership training, and sportsmanship. Our core subjects include Math, Science, English, Social Studies, Physical Education, and Bible. By offering a diverse range of subjects, our dedicated teachers can effectively address the unique learning and social needs of our students. Furthermore, qualified students have the opportunity to take honors Math classes, Spanish I, and delve into Washington State History.

Curriculum Structure:

To maximize learning, our core academic classes (Math, Science, English, and World History) are taught on a block schedule consisting of 85-minute periods. Each eighteen-week term includes two core classes, while Physical Education and Bible alternate every nine weeks. Elective classes are available for either nine weeks or one term, allowing students to explore a variety of interests.

Building a Strong Foundation:

Bible education forms a vital part of our curriculum. Students at Mara Junior High embark on a comprehensive study of the Bible, covering both the Old and New Testaments. We believe in nurturing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and our private middle school aims to teach, mentor, equip, and disciple students accordingly. Through biblical literacy, identity in Christ, and spiritual mentorship, we guide students in living out their faith as a practical demonstration of God’s love.

Subject Highlights:

English: In seventh grade, students develop competency and fluency in reading, writing, and critical thinking. Eighth-grade students focus on reading comprehension, literature, grammar, and writing skills.
