Dr. William A. Twayigize (Founder, CEO)
Dr. William A. Twayigize’s life journey has been shaped by the transformative power of resilience and faith. Growing up in refugee camps in DR Congo and Kenya during the devastating conflict minerals era, he witnessed the loss of many loved ones. However, he emerged from these hardships with a profound determination to make a difference.
Driven by a passion for education, Dr. Twayigize obtained his Bachelor’s degree from Daystar University in Kenya, followed by a Postgraduate Diploma from Southern NH University in the USA. His academic pursuits continued with a Master’s degree from Brandeis University and a Ph.D. from the University of New England in Australia.
Throughout his career, Dr. Twayigize has held prominent positions at the Office of the President of Kenya, the Harvard School of Public Health, the African Presidential Research Center at Boston University, and the International Affairs program at San Diego State University. These roles provided him with invaluable opportunities to influence policy, contribute to public health strategies, and foster global collaborations.
Motivated by his own journey, Dr. Twayigize founded ANEHOPE AFRICA, an organization dedicated to the principles of Ubuntu, as reflected in Matthew 22:37, 39. ANEHOPE provides scholarships to bright young individuals from underprivileged communities, including slums and refugee camps, to access quality education in East Africa. The organization is also actively involved in sustainability projects, such as promoting renewable energy and economic stoves, as well as ensuring girls have access to sanitary pads to support their education.
Dr. Twayigize’s personal experiences of overcoming adversity have fueled his determination to pay it forward through education and sharing the message of Christ. His vision for ANEHOPE includes the establishment of the Mara International Christian School, a transformative institution that integrates science education with Christian values. Through this school, compassionate servant leaders will be nurtured, equipped to become problem solvers, innovators, creators, and collaborators, bridging critical gaps in Christian engineering, science, and innovation within Africa.
Dr. William A. Twayigize’s life is an embodiment of the resilience and faith that resonate in Psalm 91. From his challenging upbringing to his impactful work with ANEHOPE AFRICA, he stands as a beacon of hope, inspiring others to overcome adversity and make a lasting difference in the world.
