Meet Leah Niyonsaba, a resilient third-year student at Gatovu High School in Rwanda. As the eldest of five siblings, Leah has faced her fair share of challenges, growing up in a single-parent household. Despite financial struggles, she has taken on odd jobs during school holidays to support her family, driven by love and a deep sense of responsibility. Leah’s faith has been her anchor, and her commitment to Christ deepened during the hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. Leah’s passions shine through her story. She finds solace and joy in gospel music, which soothes her soul. Planting flowers is another source of happiness, as she witnesses their vibrant colors bloom. However, her greatest dream is to work with children and become a teacher, leaving a positive impact on young lives. Life hasn’t always been easy for Leah. Her mother’s accident left her unable to walk, placing the responsibility of caregiving on Leah’s shoulders. Yet, she carries this duty with unwavering determination. Education is Leah’s ticket to a brighter future, where she can fulfill her dreams and support her family, especially her mother’s medical needs.
